Graphic Designer- Part Time - 307119 DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: DESCRIPTION Michael Baker International is seeking a creative, detail-oriented part time Graphic Designer to join the team in our Pittsburgh (Moon Township) or Harrisburg, PA office. The position would require collaboration in the office with a hybrid work arrangement. In this role, the graphic designer will be responsible for the layout, design, and production of visual communications assets for transportation, urban planning, and broadband projects. Map Visualization and GIS rendering experience are a plus. Responsibilities include creating report layouts (Word and InDesign), social media graphics, infographics, PowerPoint presentations, print collateral, signage, map visualizations, customized logos and branding, coordination of printing with vendors, consulting with project manager, supervisor and/or client on project requirements, and making recommendations based on client preferences, project needs, and budget. The successful candidate will, under limited supervision, produce quality print and digital graphic-design deliverables; understand and apply brand systems, standards, and guidelines; has a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office; takes creative input and direction; and can manage multiple projects and deadlines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Pre-Production/Design: * Consult with project manager, supervisor and/or client to evaluate individual project needs. Makes recommendations based on client preferences, project needs, and budget. * Develop inspiring and strategic layouts for print and digital marketing collateral from ideation to production. * Conceptualize and design multi-channel pieces with a human-centric approach, including brochures and flyers, mailers, presentations, and social media. * Understand brand systems, standards, and guidelines. Can create or adapt to new brands quickly and generate effective marketing pieces. * Prepares graphics and/or layout of material according to instructions of client or supervisor, reviews materials for accuracy. * Determines size and arrangement of material, selects style and size of type, and creates sample layouts based on branding guidelines. * Studies existing illustrations, photographs, and text to plan presentation of material, product, or service. * Creates finished layout or prepares instructions for workers who assemble and prepare final layouts. * Reviews final layout and suggests improvements as needed and presents final layout to supervisor or client for approval. * An ideal candidate may have experience in cartographic design, 3D rendering, illustrations, video and document accessibility (508 compliance) requirements. Production: * Obtains cost estimates and coordinates with outside vendors such as printers or paper suppliers, as needed. * Prepares final layout for printing or files to be provided for press. Reviews and approves proofs. * Presents samples and print checks to supervisor or client for selection and approval. Quality Control: * Conducts thorough QA/QC of all materials before submission. Management: * Work collaboratively with existing designers, project managers, and team leads to build and maintain positive relationships with internal clients. * Prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. * Take creative input and direction. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS * 3-5 years of applicable experience * 2-year OR 4-year degree in graphic design or related field * Has in-depth knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite - InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop (at minimum). * Has in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook). * Experience with Figma (or Adobe XD), Adobe Premiere/video editing, and 3D rendering a plus. * Ability to manage and make decisions or a multi-project workload on a regular basis. * Ability to work independently with clients with little or no direct supervision. * To perform job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. COMPENSATION The approximate compensation range for this position $57,569 - $83,115 per year in Harrisburg, PA. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
